Zen Art Music Studio & Timbertone Music is organizing a Fingerstyle Guitar workshop with Brian Gan, Victor Ng and Sheila Julis. There are 2 levels (Beginner or Intermediate) for you to chose from. Each level is RM90 (Inclusive of break snacks and lunch or dinner). Come and learn about fingerstyle guitar music today!
Beginner Level (9:00am - 12:30nn)
Target audience: For the beginner guitar player who has played guitar for awhile (mostly strumming) but has not heard about fingerstyle guitar before.
Pre-requisite: Understands the musical concepts of notes, chords and keys. Ability to play most major and minor chords. Ability to strum according to time and fingerpick simple patterns using at least PIM, PIMA better
Topics to be covered:-
- History & influences
- The thumbpick & fingerpicks
- Boom chick
- Slash chords
- Scales
- Harmonics
- Common keys for fingerstyle guitar
- Simple song arrangement for fingerstyle guitar
- Scale in chord-melody positions in various keys
- Acoustic effects
- Amplification
- Gear
Intermediate Level (2:00pm - 5:30pm)
Target audience: For the intermediate guitar player who plays simple fingerstyle guitar but would like to take it to the next level.
Pre-requisite: Ability to fingerpick simple fingerstyle guitar arrangements.
Topics to be covered:-
- Walking bass line
- Harmony
- Percussive fingerstyle guitar
- Cascading harmonics
- Alternate tunings
- Advanced techniques

GOOD NEWS: If you had taken these workshops when they were run last year, you can attend them again as a refresher for FREE. However, a fee of RM20 would be required to cover the break snacks and lunch or dinner.
