Penang Fingerstyle Guitar Competition 2015

The Penang state government will be organizing a fingerstyle guitar competition and concert. It is a healthy activity for youth and teenagers to pick up as a hobby and to participate in. The concert also helps to promote an appreciation for fingerstyle guitar music, playing and performance and lastly, to inspire the new generation of young guitarists to showcase their talent.

Date: 19 December 2015 (Saturday)
Time: 1:00pm to 2:00pm (Free Workshop with Hady Afro)
          2:30pm to 4:30pm (Grand Finals)
          5:00pm to 6:00pm (Concert)
Venue: Rainbow Paradise Beach Resort

ELIGIBILITY OF PARTICIPATION

• There will be 2 categories
• Category 1 (23 years old this year and below)
• Category 2 (16 years old this year and below)
• There is no minimum age.
• This competition is open to all Malaysian residents.
• Professional artistes with a recording contract or self funded independent artistes are not allowed to participate in this competition.

ENTRY PROCEDURES

• Complete the registration form. It is also available from the Penang Guitar Events Facebook page.
• Contestants must acknowledge that they have read and understood the rules in the registration form.
• All contestants are required to submit a link of one (1) video of themselves playing an instrumental number.
• Each submission should include the following:-
• link to contestant’s uploaded performance on Youtube
• completed registration form

Date: November 30, 2015 (Monday) 23:59pm (extended to December 03, 2015 (Thursday) 23:59pm)
Note: All contestants will be notified through e-mail by December 6, 2015 if they have qualified for the Grand Finals.

Category 1 (23 years old this year and below)

Category 2 (16 years old this year and below)
1st prize – Groovy FD 2026EQ acoustic guitar
2nd prize – Groovy FR 42EQ acoustic guitar
3rd prize – Groovy GPV acoustic guitar
3 consolation prizes – An assortment of guitar accessories including a gig bag, electronic tuner, capo, strings and picks

Note: Prizes are subject to availability. In the unfortunate event whereby the said prizes may not be available, prizes of equal value may be substituted at the organizer's sole discretion.
